Abstract
THE authors bring together certain well-known methods of determining metabolism by means of the respiratory exchange. The most space is devoted to a description of the Zwetz-Geppert method, which has not been used in England or America for a good many years. With the exception of the student apparatus of Benedict, which does not give the respiratory quotient, and an inadequate account of Krogh's latest apparatus, no description of any of the numerous variants of portable metabolism apparatus is given. The book contains nothing useful which is not already available in convenient form to English and German readers. The few references to the literature are given with little care.
