Abstract
SYMMETRICAL dichiorodimethyl sulphate isolated by Fuchs and Katscher (Ber., 60, 2288; 1927) has been found to react with soda cellulose (using Haworth's technique) giving monomethylene cellulose of maximum OCH2, content 17.2 per cent and corresponding with the formula C6H7O2(OH) (O2CH2).
