Abstract
THE infra-red absorption spectrum of the equilibrium mixture of NO2 and N2O4 was investigated in the region of comparatively short wave-lengths by Warburg and Lerthäuser in 1907 and 1909, and again in 1910 and 1913 by von Bahr. Preliminary experiments on the spectrum of nitrosyl chloride indicated N2O4 as a troublesome impurity, and it was decided to repeat the earlier work and to extend the observations as far as 18μ.
