Abstract

IN June 1935, a fossilized human occipital bone was found in situ at a depth of 24 ft. below the surface, in the middle gravels of the Thames 100-ft. terrace at Swanscombe, Kent, in association with implements of the Acheulean culture phase. A note on the discovery appeared in NATURE of October 19, 1935, p. 637.
