Effect of Vitamin P on the Thyroid in Guinea Pigs

Abstract

MCCARRISSON1 and other workers after him observed in scorbutic guinea pigs an increase in activity of the thyroid. In the course of experiments aimed at investigating the ‘sparing’ action of vitamin P on ascorbic acid, the thyroid was submitted to histological examination in vitamin P-deficient guinea pigs, as well as in guinea pigs fed on a normal diet supplemented with a mixture of d-catechin epimers, selected as a type of vitamin P.
