Abstract
I Note, in the account of Mr. F. R. Himsworth's paper before the Roads and Building Materials Group of the Society of Chemical Industry, a comment1 that “there are theoretical difficulties in the assumption that growth of a crystal in a not completely confined space can exert a pressure, and more direct experimental proof of such a process is still required”.
