Abstract
BLACKETT'S suggestive formula1 connecting the magnetic moment of a rotating celestial body P with its angular momentum U, where G represents the constant of gravitation, c the velocity of light and β a dimensionless quantity of order unity, has rightly aroused a great deal of criticism when it was considered to imply that every moving particle bears a virtual negative electric charge proportional to its mass.
