Heart Mechanism of Arthropods

Abstract

FROM experiments by several investigators it can be assumed that the heart mechanism of most Crustacea differs from the mechanism of the heart of vertebrates. The heart in Crustacea appears to possess a neurogenic automatism, as has been shown by its reactions to drugs and by histological examination. Not much information exists, however, on the heart in insects.
