Abstract
A STUDY has been made of the absorption of topically applied amino-acids by the guinea pig, and evidence has been obtained that methionine labelled with sulphur-35 can be absorbed through the skin of the animal and that cystine containing sulphur-35 is present in the newly grown hair. Earlier work on the utilization of methionine was carried out by Tarver and Schmidt1, who showed that sulphur-35 fed to rats as methionine can be found in the form of cystine in the hair and in the other tissues of the body.
