Abstract

DURING a survey of breeding sites, a mosquito new to Mauritius has been found. Larvæ of Culex simpsoni Theobald were found breeding profusely in rock pools in the river bed of the Tamarin Gorges. In the same pool, larvæ of Anopheles gambiae, Anopheles maculipalpis and Culex tritaeniorhyncus were also found. The pool was fed by seepage from a spring on the side of the gorge.
