Effect of ‘Rindite’ on the Development of the Growth-substances in Potato Tubers

Abstract

THE stimulating effect of ‘Rindite’ (ethylene chlorhydrin – ethylene dichloride – carbon tetrachloride 7 : 3 : 1) is extensively employed to break the rest period of potato tubers and thus to obtain two crops in a year. Although several articles dealing with the metabolism of the potatoes treated with ‘Rindite’ are known, the development of the growth-substances in the chemically treated tubers have not yet been analysed in detail. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the effect of ‘Rindite’ on the changes in the concentration of the growth-substances in the tubers.
