Abstract
NEWLY hatched nymphs of Schistocerca gregaria have been reared to adults on the semi-synthetic diet specified in Table 1. Formulated as a friable mixture, the diet was offered in Petri dishes placed on moist cotton-wool (providing drinking water) at the bottom of 2-lb. glass jars, with zinc perches above. Fresh food and cotton-wool were provided every two days when the nymphs were weighed.
