Abstract
DURING an investigation of the effects of fasting on the transfer of sugars across the cell membrane, it was noted that the uptake of galactose by the rat's isolated diaphragm in vitro was significantly increased after a prolonged fast, as determined from the incubation medium by a copper reduction method.
