Feeding Habits of a Marine Centipede

Abstract

DURING a night collecting expedition on the shore at Port Erin, Isle of Man, a party of students, accompanied by Dr. Iles and myself, came across a rather unusual association of predator and prey. The predator was the common littoral geophilomorph, Scolioplanes maritimus (Leach), and its food consisted of barnacles (Balanus balanoides (Linné)) and periwinkles (Littorina saxatilis (Olivi)).
