Stability of Metal Complexes with Salicylic Acid and Related Substances

Abstract

SALICYLIC acid and its derivatives can form chelate compounds with metal ions. Unfortunately, the paucity of data on stability constants in aqueous solutions1 has prevented assessment of the biological significance of this property in the outstanding anti-rheumatic and anti-fungal actions of these substances, as well as in their toxic action to man in higher dosage.
