Abstract
DURING the course of a recent investigation of the steroids present in the follicular fluid of the mare1, an unidentified αβ-unsaturated 17-ketosteroid was detected, and it seemed possible that this might represent one of the intermediates in the conversion of androst-4-ene-3,17-dione (androstenedione) to œstrone.
