Abstract
IN a recent communication in Nature 1 reference was made to a technique developed at Thornton Research Centre for investigating high-temperature reactions between metal surfaces and ‘extreme-pressure’ lubricating oil additives. We should like to take this opportunity of describing briefly the development of the technique and its potentialities.
