Effect of Cholesterol in the Larval Diet on Ovarian Development in the Adult House-Fly

Abstract

THE adult house-fly has been reported to require a dietary source of both protein and carbohydrate for ovarian maturation and to show little or no ovarian growth on an adult diet consisting solely of carbohydrates1–5. This requirement of the adult for protein could not be fulfilled by supplementing the larval diet with additional protein4.
