Controller Genes in Synthesis of Human Hæmoglobin

Abstract

MOST current accounts of gene action stress protein production as the primary gene function. Structural and functional proteins alone, however, cannot account adequately for embryological differentiation and specialized cell function. Since all cells derived from one fertilized ovum share identical genetic material, control systems must exist which govern activation and inhibition of gene action to allow complex cell functions.
