Age of Basalt underlying Bed I, Olduvai

Abstract

THE age of 1.75 million years obtained by us for early man at Olduvai Gorge has been questioned by von Koenigswald, Gentner and Lippolt on the basis of their determination of an age of 1.3 million years for the basalt underlying the strata containing the hominid remains.
