Chelates formed by Tin IV with Ethylenediamine Tetraacetic Acid

Abstract

IN a recent publication1 the chelates formed by tin II with ethylenediamine tetraacetic (EDTA) acid were investigated by pH titration, spectrophotometry and polarography. However, some apparent discrepancies have been pointed out by Langer and Bogucki2, who state that the reported 1 : 1 tin II–EDTA pH titration curve is similar to their results for the 1 : 1 tin IV–EDTA chelate, for which compound definite evidence exists for the formation of a hydroxochelate.
