Formation of Tyrosine-α-ketoglutarate Transaminase Activity in vitro

Abstract

IN the course of experiments designed to clarify the role of hydrocortisone and tyrosine in the stimulation of tyrosine-α-ketoglutarate transaminase activity, we observed small apparent increases of enzymatic activity in an in vitro system. This system is essentially that of Lingrel and Webster1, with some modifications. No attempt was made in these experiments to distinguish between synthesis of apoenzyme and release of active enzyme, in contrast to the studies of Pitot and Cho2 on the release of tryptophan pyrrolase activity.
