Abstract

THE metamyelocyte of bone marrow is usually classified with the more mature forms of granulocyte1 and is considered to be in the maturation fraction2,3 rather than in the proliferative group of bone marrow cells. There are numerous reports that the metamyelocyte is unable to divide, and that mitosis is confined to less-differentiated forms of granulocyte2,4–8.
