Abstract
AN optical correction in the microscopic measurement of the electrophoretic mobility of particles was proposed by Henry1 and has been discussed more recently by Hunter and Alexander2. The correction concerns measurements made in the type of cell similar to that used by Mattson3. Such cells consist essentially of a thick-walled capillary, the outer face of which is ground flat to within a short distance of the inner bore. The foregoing authors discussed the apparent position of a point within the cell resulting from refraction through the circular cell wall.
