Abstract
RECENT investigations have demonstrated that chicken Rons sarcoma virus is pathogenic for mammals and induces cysts and tumours in rats, cotton-rats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea-pigs and mice1–6. It has been shown7 that Macacus mulatta monkeys infected with Rous sarcoma virus developed fibrosarcomas. This finding is of special interest since monkeys are apparently very similar to human beings in their susceptibility to cancer.
