‘Ring-forms’ of Reovirus Particles

Abstract

SEVERAL investigations utilizing electron microscopy have shown that during reovirus synthesis, progeny virus consisted of particles containing nucleic acid surrounded by protein coats (capsids), and others which were devoid of a central core1–4. Negative staining techniques5 have afforded a means of following the course of events in infected cells.
