Abstract
ONE method used to estimate milk yield of ewes at pasture during the course of experiments at Armidale, New South Wales, in 1960, was the oxytocin technique1. This involved injections of oxytocin to induce let-down, followed by an “emptying” milking and, 4 h later, a “measuring” milking, milk yield being calculated as a rate (g/h). The good agreement found between this technique and lamb suckling has already been discussed2.
