Catecholamines in the Carotid Body of the Cat

Abstract

MULÓN1 showed in 1904 that extracts from the carotid bodies of horses contain a pressor substance. On the other hand, no sympathomimetic material was found in extracts from carotid bodies of rabbits, cats and guinea-pigs2. Since that time there has been much controversy about chromaffin tissue in the carotid body.
