Control of Leaf Senescence by Growth Retardants

Abstract

THE degradation of RNA, protein and chlorophyll is closely associated with the development of senescence in plant leaves1,2. Senescence is delayed by treatment with various growth regulators1–6 which apparently stimulate RNA turnover and protein synthesis2,4–9.
