Abstract
ATTEMPTS1–3 to transplant oviduct tissue have been relatively unsuccessful with one notable exception4. Successful transplantation of rabbit oviduct segments to the hamster cheek pouch has, however, been reported5. Further experiments have been conducted to refine the technique. Since this investigation, we have also used the cheek pouch successfully for transplantation and physiological studies of the uterus6,7 and anterior pituitaries8. The transplantation terminology used here is that proposed by Snell9.
