Abstract
WE report measurements of the shock heating of electrons resulting from the propagation of collisionless shock fronts through a highly ionized plasma in a direction perpendicular to an initial magnetic field. The structure of the magnetic field (Bz) and the radial electric potential (VR) within these shock fronts was reported previously1 and their collisionless nature deduced indirectly.
