Abstract
As part of the research programme on fish disease mentioned before1, we have undertaken an investigation to establish the role of fungi in the disease termed ulcerative dermal necrosis (UDN) which affects freshwater fish, particularly salmon. The fact that fungi are associated in some way with this disease is indisputable; indeed, diseased fish in the rivers are recognized chiefly by the presence of white fungoid patches.
