Structure and Distribution of Glycosyl Diglycerides in Bacteria

Abstract

Glycosyl diglycerides are widely distributed in Gram-positive bacteria. Those examined so far contain only glucose, galactose or mannose, and they can be classified according to the nature of the disaccharide attached to their diglyceride component. This chemical classification can be related to general bacterial taxonomy.
