Selection of Electrolytes for Electrochemical Machining

Abstract

THE communication by Dr J. P. Hoare1 was of interest to us because we are working along similar lines. We suggest, however, that there is a more fundamental criterion for assessing the behaviour of a metal/electrolyte system during electrochemical machining. Further, we propose that the characteristic of dimensional control attributed to chlorate electrolytes can also be achieved with simple sodium chloride solutions.
