Regulation of Pyruvate Carboxylase Formation from the Apo-enzyme and Biotin in a Thermophilic Bacillus

Abstract

The reconstitution of active pyruvate Carboxylase—occurring without protein synthesis and with high efficiency—shows a virtually complete dependence on acetyl-coenzyme A and is inhibited by L-aspartate. The reaction may represent a novel mode of regulating the formation of an active enzyme.
