Abstract
IT has been suggested that 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) might cause the rat vas deferens to contract by interacting directly with the α-adrenergic receptors in the organ1. We found that vas deferens isolated from reserpinized rats could not respond to serotonin, so we have investigated the mode of action of serotonin on this preparation, and compared it with the action of tvramine.
