Localizing 3H-GABA in Nerve Terminals of Rat Cerebral Cortex by Electron Microscopic Autoradiography

Abstract

CONSIDERABLE biochemical, physiological and pharmacological evidence supports the idea that GABA is an important inhibitory neurotransmitter substance in the mammalian central nervous system (CNS)1–3. Cytochemical techniques for demonstrating the cellular location of this amino-acid in the CNS have so far not been available.
