Abstract
WE have recently had the opportunity to study the rare association of mixed gonadal dysgenesis in a female child and X/XY/XYY mosaicism in karyotypes from blood and fibroblast cultures. The quinacrine fluorescence technique1,2 permitted us to identify the Y chromosome, which in this case is unusually large and not identifiable for certain by other means. So far the value of the quinacrine fluorescence technique has been primarily in screening for extra Y chromosomes and for karyotyping. Now it seems that this new technique may supplant or substitute autoradiographic analysis3.
