Mesozoic Palaeomagnetic Stratigraphy

Mesozoic polarity measurements suggest that there are two long periods of predominantly normal polarity from Upper Triassic to Upper Jurassic and during the Cretaceous. The former provides a simple explanation of the North Atlantic magnetic quiet zones. Magnetic stratigraphic nomenclature is proposed to cover polarity stratigraphy on the geological time scale.
