Abstract
AGEING mammalian oocytes, which have spent longer than the optimum time in the oviduct without being fertilized, may, after fertilization, give rise to abnormal embryos in which aneuploidy is frequent1. We have now observed a change in the organization of the chromosomes of ageing secondary oocytes of mice, which may account for the occurrence of aneuploidy at the second meiotic division.
