Ball Lightning

Abstract

A PHOTOGRAPH purportedly of ball lightning was taken by Mr R. C. Jennings and has been published several times1–4 (Fig. 1). The path of the “ball” shows a pulsation that aroused our curiosity, and because a verified photograph of ball lightning would be of great value in understanding this phenomenon, we have investigated Mr Jennings's photograph and the circumstances under which it was taken.
