Pitcairn Island—another Pacific hot spot?

Abstract

The volcanic Pitcairn Island, which has surface lavas with apparent ages between 0.45 and 0.93 Myr, may be the youngest member of another NW-SE trending volcanic lineament in the Pacific Ocean.
