Elevation of transaminase levels in BALB-background TGF-β1−/− mice does not require the H-2d haplotype. Litters from TGF-β1+/− intercrosses on the genetic backgrounds shown were killed at postnatal day 11–12 and plasma samples were collected for AST and ALT analyses. Bars show means+standard deviation (SD) for TGF-β1 wild-type (+/+) heterozygous (+/−) and knockout (−/−) mice, respectively, within each genetic background. The numbers (n) of mice analyzed in each group are shown below the bars. Corresponding statistical analyses are shown in Table 2.
