  1. aAdenoma cells were implanted in PBS suspension or attached to plastic plates sc in 6- to 8-week-old KSN nude mice; and 5 × 106 cells were implanted sc into preinserted gelatin sponge. The mice were observed for 12 months.

  3. cAfter plastic plate or gelatin sponge was implanted sc without adenoma cells, none of the mice (n = 8 and n = 4, respectively) developed tumors during observation. The nontumor-bearing mice were examined for an additional 8 months, during which no other tumors were observed.
