Telomere length-specific odds ratios for stroke and related risk factors (STR), probable Alzheimer's dementia (AD), and probable or possible vascular dementia (VaD). Odds ratios for STR and AD are not significantly different from one over the whole range of telomere length residuals studied. However, the odds ratio for VaD decreases by up to two orders of magnitude in individuals with long telomeres and increases to more than 3 in patients with short telomeres.
