Map of the androgen receptor gene 5′ cytidine-guanosine (CpG) island. (Top) CpG density of the area is represented by vertical lines corresponding to each CpG site. The high density of CpG sites around the transcription start site (Region 2) and 5′ end of the first exon (Region 3) indicate the presence of the CpG island. Region 1 is located approximately 500bp upstream of the transcription start site. The position of Sp1 and cyclic-AMP response element binding protein (CREB) binding site are indicated by the arrowheads.
