Representative photomicrographs (original magnification, ×40) of human skin grafts demonstrating the IL-11 up-regulated survivin protein expression in vivo. Human skin grafts on SCID/beige mice were harvested 24 hours after interdermal injection of either saline control (A) or 500 ng of IL-11 (B). Skin grafts were immunostained with either control Ab (A and B, insets) or antisurvivin Ab (A and B) as described in “Materials and Methods.” Similar findings were observed in three additional pairs of animals providing two independent experiments.
