Histopathology of the pancreas in the carbonic anhydrase II (CA-II) experiment. Hematoxylin and eosin-stained tissue sections from nonimmunized neonatal thymectomy (nTx) mice show no lymphocyte infiltration (a). In the nTx mice immunized with CA-II (b and c), moderate lymphocyte infiltration and destruction of the small duct were observed. Lymphocyte infiltration with edematous changes was observed in the nude mice that received whole (d) or CD4+ (e) spleen cells from nTx mice immunized with CA-II.
