From: Stem Cell Factor Attenuates Liver Damage in a Murine Model of Acetaminophen-Induced Hepatic Injury

Mice treated with anti-SCF have increased necrotic areas of the liver. Animals were treated with control or anti-SCF–specific serum 1 hour before administration of a sublethal dose of acetaminophen. The survival of animals was recorded for 4 days and terminated. Sections of liver tissue (two from each animal) were stained with hematoxylin and eosin, and the area of hepatic damage was determined morphometrically and expressed as a percentage of total liver area examined. Data represent mean ± se from at least eight mice per group. Anti-SCF–treated animals had a significantly increased necrotic area compared with control serum-treated animals (p < 0.05).
