Autoreactivity to non-target organs in patients and controls. Densitometric profiles of antibody reactivities in the two groups were submitted to computer-assisted analysis. Data represent mean and SD of the peak reactivity within the sections in the two groups (closed circles = patients; open circles = controls), after subtraction of the reactivity of the secondary antibody alone. Autoreactivities to non-target organs (kidney, stomach, and liver) were significantly enhanced in patients as compared with controls. OD = optical density; au, arbitrary unit.
